Storytelling!
Today we were lucky enough to have Clive Pig join us for a storytelling workshop! We loved listening to his many stories and we worked on our own fairytale character as he was telling us a story!
British Science Week!
This week Mercury Class took part in a whole school experiment for British Science Week. We were exploring the question- Do people with the longest legs jump the furthest?
We all did a 2 footed jump to see how far we could jump. We then measured the legs of the three children who jumped the furthest and the three children who jumped the shortest distance.
The results were collected from the whole school and we discovered that people with longer legs don’t always jump the furthest.
As a class we discussed why we thought this was the outcome. Some of the comments were: “It’s not about how long your legs are, it’s about how strong they are.” “It’s about how much power you get from bending your legs and swinging your arms.”
We all had fun carrying out the experiment and are looking forward to doing another whole school experiment soon!
Gymnastics fun!
Mercury Class had great fun using the big apparatus in the hall this morning!
Mapping the world!
Mercury Class are enjoying their geography based question in LCC- Where would you prefer to live: England or Africa?
We have been using atlases to find the 7 continents and the 5 oceans.
